Clutter Free Closets

(STOP Wasting TIME & MONEY!!!!!)

1)      First things, first, pull all your fall and winter items out of storage before you have the urge to start your “Fall” shopping!  Organize your pieces by what has to be cleaned or replaced, tossed or donated.

2)      Next, do a little planning now and it will save you time in the spring season. Pull out all the items you want to put away until early spring.  Go through your closet and pull out items like flip-flops, strapless dresses, summer skirts, maxi dresses, etc.

3)      Now pull out everything into a separate pile that you didn’t wear last season and immediately box up to take to Goodwill or box up  items to take to your favorite second hand store.

4)      Items to keep in your closet are lightweight tops, layering pieces like cami’s and scarves that will work well with your fall jackets and sweaters.

5)      Lastly, when packing up items for next season, add in a few dryer sheets or cedar blocks so everything will be fresh for next season!

 Roo’s Closet Tips:

Keeping items in separate categories is the easiest way to eliminate unwanted pieces.  Keep in four categories, the keep pile, and the med pile, the toss pile, and the donate or second hand pile.

Next, when going through the piles from your closet, keep a log of what items are wore out and what pieces are needed to complete your fall wardrobe, this will be the start of your fall shopping list!

Items you find in your closet that you have not worn for a year need to be pulled out and do not box up for another season!  This gives your closet room to allow new pieces to be added!

If you just can’t immediately make-up your mind about an item, flag the hanger and remove the flags as you wear the item.  If the item doesn’t get worn that season, sell it or donate it at the end of the season.

One great tip I always try to follow is to keep all the hanger the same style, this gives your closet a more organized feel and allows items to be identified easier!
