High school bans breast cancer awareness t-shirts

Arizona Republic

A high school in Arizona banned a cheerleading squad from raising money for breast cancer research while wearing pink t-shirts because the administration found the slogan on the t-shirts objectionable, according to the Arizona Republic newspaper.

The shirts say "Gilbert cheer" on the front -- as in, Gilbert High School -- and "Feel for lumps, save your bumps" on the back.

A booster club paid $470 to buy 56 t-shirts, which the girls were going to wear at Friday's football game to raise money from the crowd.
