Lower fees on multiple toll violations

Running the toll will now take less of a toll on your wallet.

Governor Mary Fallin signed a bill Tuesday that reduces the fine after the first offense.

It'll now cost you a flat $25 fee.

Jack Damrill, spokesman for the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority, says, "They could rack up currently a pretty hefty violation fine."

Under current law, the penalty is $25 for the first violation, $50 for a second violation and $75 for a third violation.

It was actually the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority that asked for the fine reduction.

Damrill says, "We're hoping that this will create a more positive customer experience. Most of these are accidental violations."

They also hope the change will encourage more drivers to use the PIKEPASS system.
