Tebow ministers to his flock

Tim Tebow
Tim Tebow

Football's most famous Christian, Tim Tebow, was the star of an Easter service in Texas yesterday. Pastor Joe Champion -- who played college ball at Louisiana State before turning to the ministry -- sat onstage and talked with Tebow before 15,000 people gathered outside of Celebration Church in Georgetown, which set up bleachers and arranged for shuttle buses to accommodate the mixture of faithful, curious and sports fans drawn to its 110-acre site for "Easter on the Hill."

Before the event, Champion told Austin TV station KVUE that Easter is "our Super Bowl."

In his remarks, Tebow said "it's OK to be outspoken about your faith," and repeated the familiar falsehood that America was founded as "one nation under God." (The phrase was not part of any official American document until it was added to the Pledge of Allegiance in the 1950s.)
