Ashton Kutcher is taking on the State of California in a $1.4 million lawsuit.
In the suit, obtained by TMZ, the star's Katalyst Media, which produced Punk'd and Beauty and the Geek, claims it made a deal with the Golden State's Department of Motor Vehicles in 2010 to do a reality show that would "capture the variously humorous, emotional, dramatic, moving, humanizing and entertaining situations that arise on a daily basis" at the agency. But Katalyst says the department backed out -- even though producers had already sunk hundreds of thousands of dollars into the show. According to the suit, the head of the DMV said the project wouldn't be in the department's "best interests."
