Belinda Carlisle at the Event Center at River Spirit

Belinda Carlisle, lead vocalist for The Go-Go's, is currently touring with a set list packed with hits from her time with the group as well as her successful solo career. She is scheduled to perform at 7 p.m. Friday, September 4 at the Event Center at River Spirit.

Belinda Carlisle gained worldwide fame as the lead vocalist of The Go-Go’s, one of the most successful all-female bands of all time. The group sold more than seven million albums in just three years. The Go-Go’s released their debut album, Beauty and the Beat, in 1982. The album reached the top spot on the Billboard chart, staying there for six weeks before going double platinum. Throughout the early 1980s, the Go-Go’s remained one of the most popular bands in America, with hit songs like “We Got the Beat” and “Our Lips Are Sealed” dominating radio airwaves and MTV video play. The Go-Go’s became the first all-female band ever to hit Number 1 on the charts by writing and performing their own songs.

Carlisle later went on to have a successful solo career with hits such as “Mad About You,” "I Get Weak,” “Circle in the Sand,” and “Heaven Is a Place on Earth.”  Also an accomplished writer, her autobiography, Lips Unsealed, published in June 2010, was a New York Times Best Seller.
