Wired is reporting that a new species of sea slug has been discovered off the coast of Brazil, and its discoverers have given it the very scientific name of Tritonia Khaleesi. Awesome.
The species was written up in The Journal of the Marine Biological Association of the United Kingdom by its discoverers Felipe de Vasconcelos Silva, Victor Manuel De Azevedoa and Helena Matthews-Cascona. The reason given for the naming is a silver band which runs down the back of the slug, which reminded the scientists of Khaleesi’s silver hair. Should Emilia Clarke be flattered or offended?
While no one would ever confuse the beautiful Emilia with a slug, we’re sure she thinks its pretty cool that her character now has a spot in the Animal Kingdom in addition to the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros. Frankly, the only entities who should be upset about the naming of Triton Khaleesi are other sea slugs. You’re time is up, other slugs, Tritonia Khaleesi will soon rule over all slugs of the sea!Source: Wired
