Our girl Big Ang surprised us this season on Mob Wives: New Blood when, at age 53, she revealed that she and husband Neil were trying for a new baby! Given, they chose to take the surrogacy route so that Ang wouldn’t be, as she says, the “oldest woman in f—ng New York to have a baby.” But what about the rest of the Mob Wives — would they consider having more kids?
Drita D’Avanzo and Alicia DiMichele visited the Wetpaint Entertainment NYC offices on February 19, where they spoke with us exclusively about the wild February 27 reunion episode, as well as their plans now that the fourth season of the VH1 reality show has come to an end. And when we inquired whether they might follow in Big Ang’s path, they had two very different answers.
“Oh no, I’m done,” Alicia said, very matter-of-factly. And we can’t blame her! The Philly lady already has her hands full being a mom to two boys under 12, and paying her eldest’s way through college. Plus, she’s doing it all on her own, with her husband Eddie currently serving a seven-year prison sentence for extortion.
Drita, on the other hand, was a little more open to the idea — though don’t expect her and husband Lee to bring a new bundle of joy into the world anytime soon.
“I might have another baby, I don’t know,” she admitted. “Right now my baby is [my cosmetics line] Lady Boss, and finishing my store, and my mission, and my book. I have a lot of things going on, so I wouldn’t be able to do that until I reach my goals.” Lean in, Drita!
Plus, when and if she does have another child, Drita wants to be able to devote all of her time to raising him or her (she clearly hopes it’s a her!). “I know what’s going to happen is, if I have a baby, I’m going to ask my mom to babysit,” the reality star explained. “What’s the point of having a baby if I can’t smell her? I want to be able to watch her.” Aww!
New baby or not, Drita has a lot to be proud of with her thriving makeup brand, as she points out that Lady Boss has grown to sell in over seven countries. “That’s a big deal,” she said — and for more than one reason. “A lot of the women that are looking at the show are like, ‘If she can do it, I can do it’ and it’s amazing. I’m just like ‘Okay, don’t curse and fight, but that’s cool.’”
