Spencer Pratt might claim his former The Hills co-star Lauren Conrad is his “awesome BFF,” but in reality? Those two are far from patching things up.
If you remember correctly — and let’s face it, how could you forget? — Spencer and Lauren were anything but buddies on the show… mostly because of the fact that Spencer (back then, at least) was a total d-bag while he and his now-wife Heidi Montag were dating.
And although Spencer has since claimed he played up the villain role for the sake of the show, he’s totally unwilling to apologize to Lauren for the feud that destroyed her friendship with Heidi.
“I think I was mutually beneficial,” Spencer told E! of how he treated Lauren. “I think I helped her show get millions of more viewers and helped her get millions of more dollars.”
Okay, this is true — we adore everything Lauren Conrad, but we have to admit Spencer did add a little something extra to the show. He always kept us coming back to find out what crazy thing he’d do next… and he and Heidi played off of each other perfectly. Remember the time she came home to find the awful mural he painted on the wall?
“I took all the dirt for the show, and I was the bad guy and she got to be the good girl. We could have a mutual, 'I'm sorry,' 'you're sorry.' But it's like, I helped you make millions, and you helped me make millions.
As much as we cringe at the thought of acknowledging Spencer Pratt was right about something, he does have a point here. His over-the-top villainy did paint Lauren to have a saintly amount of patience until she finally put her foot down. But we’re not convinced Spencer knew that’s what he was doing at the time, so can he really call it a favor?
