It was a relatively lazy night on Dancing With the Stars — and no, we're not talking about the dancing! If there's one thing that's taking away from the quality of Season 17, it's the lazy scoring. Do the judges really have to love everything? Not to mention guest judge Julianne Hough was a huge disappointment. Sure, she was fun and adorable, but she added little depth to the judges' table.
Even tonight's eliminated was a little on the bland side. After four weeks of heart-felt routines, TV legend Valerie Harper took her final bow on the DWTS dance floor after she and pro Tristan MacManus were sent home. This wasn't a shock — but it was an emotional goodbye. Although Tristan and Valerie found themselves at the bottom of the leaderboard week after week, watching Valerie hold herself with such dignity and grace in the ballroom was a true pleasure. There's never been a more humble DWTS contestant, and there's probably will never be again.
Valerie, who was diagnosed with terminal cancer last year, wasn't the best dancer, but she had more wit and charisma than the entire cast combined. And Tristan proved not only is he a brilliant dancer and choreographer, but he's a true friend as well. Despite her less than stellar footwork, Valerie made us smile, and at the end of the day, that's what DWTS is all about.
Do you think the right person went home, or did you see that one coming? Sound off in the comments!
