The Golden Globes recently showed a complete lack of television understanding when they neglected to nominate HBO’s stellar Game of Thrones for any awards, but thankfully other organizations have not been so careless.
The Producer’s Guild of America has nominated Game of Thrones’ producers David Benioff, D.B. Weiss, Bernadette Caulfield, Frank Doelger, Christopher Newman, Greg Spence, and Carolyn Strauss in the category of Outstanding Producer of Episodic Television, Drama. In what’s blossoming into a nice rivalry among fantastic modern dramas, the septet will be squaring off in the category against the producers of AMC’s Breaking Bad, Showtime’s Homeland, Netflix’s House of Cards, and British export Downton Abbey.
The winners of the 25th annual PGA Awards will be announced on January 19th, at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, California.
The Producer's Guild is far from the first organization to recognize the strength of Game of Thrones's third season. Despite the Golden Globes snub, the season has made out quite well, raking in nominations from everything from the Television Critics Association's TCA Awards to the Emmys. Here's to hoping it can squeeze out another win here!
