Last night's two-hour American Idol was about as brutal as we imagined. Fifteen girls entered the Idol arena with five immediately cut from the running with some ladies eliminated we still can't believe (see what all went down thanks to our handy recap). That initial dismissal of five left just 10 girls vying for a chance to win America's heart and votes to earn a spot in the Season 13 Top 13.
Tonight (Wednesday, February 19) we'll do it all again but this time with the remaining 15 boys. We're expecting the same kind of tough love as judges Keith Urban, Harry Connick, Jr., and Jennifer Lopez pass on a handful of contestants before letting the ones still standing sing for their lives in the two-hour show. We sure hope Ryan Seacrest packed his wrinkle cream because this is about to get all kinds of stressful.
If you didn't catch it last night, this latest mutation of the American Idol DNA is known as Rush Week. It replaces the traditional Las Vegas Semifinals as the final hoop wannabe American Idols must clear in order to make it to the official Live Shows. Those start next week with the standard two-hour performance episode on Wednesday followed by an elimination on Thursday evening, and then it's straight on until morning and the May finale.
