We’ve reached the second week of American Idol and if last week's premiere was any indication, we're in for a phenomenal season! The show is already proving to be different from seasons past, as we’ve said goodbye to the judges’ squabbles and hello to Harry Connick, Jr! (Seriously, can that guy can’t get any more adorable? We don’t thinks so.)
Of course, the one thing that hasn’t changed are the numerous rounds of auditions. January 22’s episode finds the judges headed to Detroit in hopes of tracking down the country’s next big superstar.
It’s here where Keith Urban, Jennifer Lopez, and Harry Connick Jr. meet Jena Asciutto. (Yes, pronounced like prosciutto.) She’s only 17 years old but she’s already had a decent amount of success with her former band, Infinity Hour. Jena wants to branch off on her own now, though, and proves she’s got the pipes to do it with her rich rendition of “Rolling in the Deep.”
“I loved your voice,” says Keith. “I really, really loved it. Certain people’s personalities come through in their tone. And I can hear your personality.”
“When we hear a song that we know so well, and you don’t sing it anything like the singer, that to me is always a good sign,” adds J.Lo.
What do you think of Jena’s performance? Will she make it to the Top 31? Read our spoilers here!
