October 28, Team Adam Levine singers Grey and James Irwin were paired to sing against one another on The Voice 2013 knockout rounds. Grey came out first with their rendition of “Already Gone” by Kelly Clarkson. Grey chose the song because she ultimately wants to become a storyteller like Kelly. Adam advised Grey to follow through with her notes, otherwise she will be picked apart by the coaches.
Taking the stage, Grey showcased her vocals and captivated the audience. James Irwin followed close behind with their cover of “Breakeven” by The Script. James chose the song due to its message, and ability to show off his vocal range.Blake Shelton thought that both vocalists did a great job, but that Grey left the door open for James to sneak through. Christina Aguilera was able to pinpoint each singer’s technical faults, but commended them both for their performances, while Cee Lo Green thought that Grey’s vocals really shined.
Do you think Grey deserved to win the knockout rounds? Tell us below!
