Much like the earlier parts of this year of American Idol, Season 13 is full of twists and turns that we’ve never seen before. Replacing Vegas Round is the all-new Rush Week, a highly-emotional, intensive round which promises to narrow down our Top 31 to the remaining 13 who will compete for our votes in the finals.
Not all of the contestants will sing for the country, however. As we saw on last night’s stress-inducing episode (February 18), only 10 of the 15 ladies got to take the stage, while the others were sent home brokenhearted. Tonight it’s the guys’ turn to start biting their nails as they wait to see who will get called to the stage.
First up is 22-year-old Caleb Johnson, who’s out to bring rock ‘n’ roll back to American Idol. He decides to take on “Stay With Me” by The Faces, which seems to the be perfect choice for his old school, raspy voice. His performance has a total ‘70s throwback feel to it, but will the judges think it’s too retro to identify with?
“Amazing, amazing way to start the show!” says J.Lo. “That was some real rock star ish right there. That was the real deal and you are the real deal. I remember you from the other two seasons when you tried out and you’re so ready right now. Everything has it’s time and it’s your time.”
Will Caleb make it through to the Top 13? The choice is up to you! Vote by calling 1-855-4-IDOL-01 or text 1 to 83676.
