We’ve reached the second week of American Idol and if last week's premiere was any indication, we're in for a phenomenal season! The show is already proving to be different from seasons past, as we’ve said goodbye to the judges’ squabbles and hello to Harry Connick, Jr! (Seriously, can that guy can’t get any more adorable? We don’t thinks so.)
Of course, the one thing that hasn’t changed are the numerous rounds of auditions. January 22’s episode finds the judges headed to Detroit in hopes of tracking down the country’s next big superstar.
It’s here where Keith Urban, Jennifer Lopez, and Harry Connick Jr. meet Brandy Neelly — or to be more exact, it’s just where Harry Connick Jr. meets her, seeing as how she’s auditioned three times before. Could (Season) 13 be her lucky number? It just might be, judging by her lovely rendition of “Wanted” by Hunter Hayes.
“I love your voice,” says Keith, after bursting into applause. “That was a great song for you to do. You played to all your strengths, I really loved it.”
“I heard a [nasal quality] in the back of your voice, but it’s one of those things where they have been extremely well known singers that have that quality and fine. So do you address it or do you say that’s part of your voice? For what it’s worth, I wouldn’t try to correct that. I want to hear you again!”
What do you think of Brandy’s performance? Will she make it to the Top 31? Read our spoilers here!
