Much like the earlier parts of this year of American Idol, Season 13 is full of twists and turns that we’ve never seen before. Replacing Vegas Round is the all-new Rush Week, a highly-emotional, intensive round which promises to narrow down our Top 31 to the remaining 13 who will compete for our votes in the finals.
Not all of the contestants will sing for the country, however. As we saw on last night’s stress-inducing episode (February 18), only 10 of the 15 ladies got to take the stage, while the others were sent home brokenhearted. Tonight it’s the guys’ turn to start biting their nails as they wait to see who will get called to the stage.
Next up is 20-year-old Alex Preston, who decides to take on “Volcano” by Damien Rice. He opens up to Randy Jackson about always being shy, which becomes very apparent in his mentoring session with Season 5 contestant Chris Daughtry. Luckily, Chris’s little pep talk seems to have done him some good, and he takes the stage ready to give the performance of his life.
“That had such a groove to it, and that’s why the audience responded to it.” says J.Lo. “It was so different from anything else. You are really in your own lane. You’re a very interesting artist. I think if you stay there, you could really go far.”
Will Alex make it through to the Top 13? The choice is up to you! Vote by calling 1-855-4-IDOL-07 or text 7 to 83676.
