If you’re as thrilled as we are that there will finally be a new big bad on Season 5 of The Vampire Diaries, listen close. We all knew that Markos, the show’s newest villain, would be coming down the pipeline this season, but now the role has been cast — and it’s an interesting choice, to say the least.
According to Deadline, newcomer Raffi Barsoumian will play the mysterious villain that will come on the scene in Season 5, Episode 17. We already know that Markos is a “charismatic but imposing leader from a faraway land” and that “he’s super dark, but people can’t help but be drawn to him, and he’s worshipped by his followers.” That’s pretty much all we were given about him.
We’ve been speculating about exactly who this dude is going to be, but we strongly believe that since the Traveler storyline is picking up and they are coming out of the woodwork, that Markos will be the leader of these guys. The Travelers are a tricky bunch, but they definitely have some sort of a plan involving doppelgangers.
Raffi has been in several short films and, from the looks of his website, been on the stage quite a bit — but his only TV role so far has been a guest spot on NCIS. Does this newbie have the potential to be a long-lasting baddie? Now that Season 6 is confirmed, could he bridge the gap into a new year of TVD?
But the biggest question we need to ask ourselves is if this guy is hot enough to play a baddie on TVD or not.
You be the judge. Hit the comments and let us know if you support this casting choice or if he pales in the shadow the other hotties from The Vampire Diaries.
