While Valerie Harper was all smiles on the Season 17 premiere of Dancing With the Stars 2013 on September 16, that is not the case in her emotional documentary. The intimate special, titled Valerie’s Story, chronicles her battle against terminal brain cancer and premieres tonight, Thursday, September 19, at 10 p.m. ET on NBC.
NBC News released an unaired clip from the special, in which the 74-year-old Rhoda and Mary Tyler MooreShow actress explains how someone accused her husband, Tony Cacciotti, of killing her since he isn’t trying every possible treatment. This “crazy” and “outlandish” person keeps writing to them about conspiracy theories, including that “doctors are holding back a cure for cancer so they can make money.”
Valerie calls it “beyond stupid” and “ugly,” and she and her husband note that they can’t jump on every potential cure. However, as seen in her miraculous progress, she is close to remission and is already doing well on Dancing With the Stars.
Check out the tearful clip below, then watch Valerie’s Story tonight, Thursday, September 19 at 10 p.m. ET on NBC.Source: NBC News
