There’s no denying that half of what makes up Duck Dynasty’s massive (though, admittedly waning) appeal are those hilarious antics that occur when the men of Duck Commander interact and bro out. But for a show that focuses so much on family, we do wish they would focus a little more on the women of the Robertson clan. And now it seems our wish has been granted! In a little over two months, family matriarch Miss Kay and her daughters-in-law Korie, Missy, Jessica, and Lisa Robertson, will release the first book from their point of view, and we can hardly wait! The tome, entitled The Women of Duck Commander: Surprising Insights from the Women Behind the Beards About What Makes This Family Work, is said to give us some insight into “their roles in the crazy Robertson family and the core values that make this family work.” And what a crazy family it is!
The interesting part about this tell-all from the point of view of the glamorous “women behind the beards” will be to see whether they comment at all on their father-in-law and husband, Phil, and his controversial opinions on homosexuality and race — an issue that got him into hot water a little over a month ago. Though the incident was probably too close to publication for the ladies to go into detail, there may be something included in a forward or a hint at previous behavior that could be compelling. After all, the book teases that “in addition to being the perfect companions for the Duckmen, [they] are strong women of substance in their own rights.”
Another tidbit that could prove fascinating is the fact that the Duck wives will “share about how each one became a Robertson and challenge myths about their motives for marriage into this family.” Who are these people that challenged their motives — Kay? Phil? The public? We can’t wait to find out.
