When you're in a funk, and there's no coffee to pick you up and Carl Grimes (Chandler Riggs) stole all the chocolate, you need to find happiness where you can. And who doesn't feel better after a few good walker kills?
"This season's really Michonne fighting for her soul," Danai said in an on-set AMC video, taking viewers behind the scenes of "After." "Since the destruction of the prison, she's been going through a serious depression." Michonne initially goes back to the numb, uncaring woman she was before she met Andrea on the Season 2 finale. Then she sees all the death around her in the woods and launches a primal walker-killing spree. It's awesome.
In the video below, you can watch Danai work with director Greg Nicotero, stunt coordinator Russell Towery, and VFX supervisor Victor Scalise to choreograph the kills. Danai said she practiced her moves in her living room, and she even got to go to sword school. She used a rubber sword when working with the zombie extras, and you can see all the thought and work that had to go into putting together the whole sequence.
It takes a village to be this badass!
