This Sunday’s episode of The Walking Dead,Season 4, Episode 12: “Still,” will bring us back to Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus) and Beth Greene (Emily Kinney), who we only saw for a few minutes back in Episode 10. The last time we touched base with Beryl, Beth was the one taking charge and urging Daryl to help her look for other survivors, something Daryl was unusually less than enthused to do.
Based on the promo and sneak peeks we’ve seen for Episode 12 so far it looks like Daryl’s back in action mode, while Beth may be the one who needs some TLC this time around. Remember, Beth just watched her father Hershel Greene (Scott Wilson) get decapitated, and she has no idea where her sister Maggie Greene (Lauren Cohan) is, let alone if she’s even alive.
“I think definitely she still hasn’t come to terms with that life is over yet, the people and the family that she gained by having that stability of the prison. I think she’s still sort of hopeful. I don’t think that she has completely come to terms with her father’s death yet,” Emily revealed on Entertainment Weekly Radio. “I think that is something that is going to play out throughout the whole rest of the season. This is just the beginning, I think she’s still trying to grasp something.”
Emily also said that Episode 10, which saw the reintroduction of Beth’s diary, was to “see how much hope she had in this other life...you don’t need much to start to dream and think about what your life could be.”
In addition to the diary writing, Emily has also hinted that viewers could be in for some more musical stylings from the youngest Greene gal, something she has mentioned quite a few times before. “It’s definitely part of how Beth deals with this world, and like I said, in any circumstance we need more than just food and shelter, human beings need something else,” Emily said of Beth’s singing. “Music and art are bound to come up at some point, I think it’s her way of dealing with this.”
Are you ready to spend some more time with Beth (and Daryl!) this Sunday? Tell us how you feel in the comments below!
