The one thing that American Idol seems to have over The Voice is that they’ve turned out a number of huge stars, while The Voice has yet to really do that. In fact, past winners have made nary a ripple in the big sea that is the music industry. It’s no wonder that all eyes are on Tessanne Chin to see if she could be the show’s first big star. When one looks at her busy schedule, it seems that all signs point to “yes.”
According to CarterMatt, the gorgeous Jamaican reggae fusion artist is set to turn out an album this year, although no date has been set. It appears that she won’t be attempting to break any records, unlike Danielle Bradbery. While Tessanne appears to be taking her time on her post-Voice debut effort, Danielle released her first effort a mere four months after winning.
It’s likely hard to find time to get in the studio; Tessanne has kept a breakneck pace since winning Season 5. Between performing on The Voice’s float in the Tournament of Roses parade, teaming up with fellow Jamaican Shaggy, and headlining a benefit concert for Haiti, she’s been anything but idle since her victory.
One thing we do know is that Hollywood has recognized Tessanne’s star potential. The Hollywood Reporter broke the recent news story that she got picked up by ICM Partners, which is easily one of the most highly recognized and revered talent agencies in existence. Between this pickup and landing Universal Republic as her backing label, we’d say Tessanne’s star is on an epic rise.
With Season 6 starting this Monday, February 24, it’s nice to see that the most recent winner has shown some real potential to have longevity in the music industry.
What do you think — will Tessanne prove herself to be a star? Sound off in the comments!Sources: CarterMatt, The Hollywood Reporter
