Taylor Swift may have conquered the pop world, but she is reportedly setting her sights on the movie world, too.
Page Six touts that famed producer Harvey Weinstein arranged a meeting between Taylor and Aussie actor Brenton Thwaites, who will play Jonas, the protagonist of the story.
"Harvey introduced Taylor to Brenton in Toronto because they were both going to be in the film," a source tells the outlet. (Taylor was in town to support the film One Chance, for which she contributed the song "Sweeter Than Fiction," co-written by fun.'s Jack Antonoff.)
Apparently, Taylor and Brenton "hit it off," and talked for hours before grabbing burgers at 2 a.m.
Granted, this report comes from Page Six, so take this news with a healthy dose of skepticism.
The Giver is a 1993 young adult novel by Lois Lowry, which tells the tale of Jonas, a youngster in a utopian society that has managed to eliminate pain and suffering by instituting sameness at the expense of emotional depth. Jonas is selected as the Receiver of Memory — inheriting all memories of life before Sameness from the titular Giver — and must decide whether to preserve the peace or enlighten his fellow citizens.
Jeff Bridges will star as the Giver, and Meryl Streep and Katie Holmes have also joined the cast.
