We knew Glee’s 100th episode was going to be big, we just didn’t know how big. The cast and crew are hard at work filming Season 5, Episode 12: “100,” and now The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that the script has now been split to make it extend two full episodes.
The two-part 100th episode extravaganza will begin on Tuesday, March 18, and end with the Tuesday, March 25, episode. Fox has yet to release an official synopsis, but THR has plenty of details of what to expect.
“The 100th episode will center on Jane Lynch's principal Sue Sylvester, who after years of disdain for the New Directions and Matthew Morrison's Will Schuester, finally succeeds in ending the glee club in Lima.”
Yes. That is the summary. Record scratch.
The glee club is over, at least for now. Maybe forever. But before the New Ds sing their swan song, a ton of original characters are coming back, including both Heather Morris (Brittany) and Dianna Agron(Quinn)! They’re said to be saying “their final goodbyes to Will and each other,” but since THR clarifies that Matt isn’t leaving the show, we’re sort of curious if he might be heading to NYC. It’s never too late to go after that Broadway career!
Will’s future is unclear, but one thing isn’t. After the 100th episode special is complete, Glee will take place exclusively in New York City for “several consecutive episodes.” And Mercedes (Amber Riley), Blaine(Darren Criss), and Sam (Chord Overstreet) will all be in the Big Apple during that time.
How’s that for a switch? We’ll give you a moment to take it all in.
