Love & Hip Hop Atlanta stars Stevie J. and Benzino may have their names on their bar and lounge, Sleazy and Zino, but whether they’re actually owners of the establishment is under dispute. As a matter of fact, the duo are being withheld from throwing future events there until the court decides who really owns the bar.
Now, if you’re a little confused, don’t worry — so are we, but we’re starting to understand things a bit. It all started after theLHHATL brawl that happened in early February, which included several of the cast members and left quite a few people injured and/or shaken. According to Access Atlanta, two days later both Zino and Steebie (as well as silent partner, Dave Mays) were locked out from the premises, prompting them to file a lawsuit against their business partners, K. Christopher Edwards, Kevin Edwards, Dartez Daniel, and Red Ultra Lounge LLC.
As the case it still ongoing, there’s really no way to predict how it will all end up. While it appears that Benzino and Stevie J. are bringing it to court’s attention that they’ve shelled out over $23,000 for improvements and renovations, the defendants are actually the ones with the lease agreement for the building and the liquor license. According to court documents obtained by Atlanta Access, Stevie J. and Zino Grigio agreed to operate “a lounge concept based upon the reality television series ‘Love & Hip Hop,” but thanks to the raucous brawl, it looks like the defendants are not up to letting the guys continue to use the space.
As you can imagine, this ordeal is pretty troubling to both Stevie and Benz, as they’re taken a two-fold hit: Both men have been unable to make money off of hosting parties there, andthey’ve been unable to use the locale as a filming site for the upcoming season of Love & Hip Hop Atlanta, which is a big inconvenience.
According to silent partner Dave, the LHHATL guys have regained the keys for the establishment and may have yet another grand opening, though the defendants aren’t so sure about that. Last time they checked, the judge only granted them the opportunity to use the space for a party on February 22 (which never happened), and they were told both parties aren’t allowed to use the property until the case is resolved.
Does that mean we won’t get to see much of Sleazy & Zino bar and lounge on the new season of Love & Hip Hop Atlanta? Guess we’ll have to wait and see!
Do you think Stevie J. and Benzino should be allowed to retain “ownership” of their bar after the big brawl that broke out? Tell us your thoughts in the comments below!
