Update (January 23, 2014):
Hear ye, hear ye! Almost a week after the Royal Family grew by one, we have a new name for the latest addition. Let us formally introduce Mia Grace Tindall, daughter of Zara and Mike. (We owe the news to Daddy Mike and his Twitter account.)
Congratulations once again to the family!
Original story (January 17, 2014):
Just over a week after Kate Middleton turned 32, we have another Royal to celebrate! Zara Phillips gave birth to her first child on January 17. The eldest granddaughter of Queen Elizabeth II welcomed a baby girl with her husband Mike Tindall at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital.
Thirty-two-year-old Zara is the daughter of Princess Royal Anne and her first husband, Captain Mark Phillips, as well as cousin to Princes William and Harry. Zara and hubby Mike have yet to release the name of their new daughter but we do know the little lady weighs 7 pounds and 12 ounces (not including tiara).
“The baby’s name will be confirmed in due course,” according to the official statement from Buckingham Palace. “The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Princess Royal, Captain Mark Phillips, and Mike’s parents are delighted with the news.”
The new addition is Queen Elizabeth II’s fourth great-grandchild and 16th in line to the throne. Zara, an Olympic equestrian, and her rugby player husband wed in 2011 and announced the were expecting back in July, right around the same time we welcomed another royal baby. At the rate these English aristocrats are reproducing, we’re looking at some truly majestic playdates in the not too distant future.
Congratulations to Zara and Mike on their happy news!
