These past few months without Pretty Little Liars have been rough, so we were crazy-excited to watch the show’s Season 4 winter premiere (Episode 14: “Who’s in the Box?”). As it turns out, so was everybody else.
Pretty Little Liars’s January 7 episode came back with stellar ratings. It was the number one cable show for adults ages 18 to 34, with 1.2 million viewers and a 1.7 demo rating. On top of that, it scored the top spot for women 18-34, viewers 12-34, and females 12-34.
The dramatic episode, which featured an Aria/Ezra kiss — she still doesn’t know he’s “A” — and an emotional Hanna/Tyler breakup, was also the most-tweeted season premiere in TV history. It generated over 1.3 million tweets from almost 473,000 users, at one point reached an astonishing 30,000 tweets per minute.
What’s more, Pretty Little Liars now holds every spot on the list of top five most-tweeted TV episodes on record. Its eight total charting episodes have gathered more than 1 million tweets in total. “Who’s in the Box?” lands at number four on the list.
The most-tweeted episode was the Season 4 summer finale,“Now You See Me, Now You Don’t.” That’s followed by Season 3, Episode 12: “The Lady Killer” and Season 3’s finale, “A dAngerous gAme,” at number three. The fifth most-tweeted episode is Season 4’s premiere “A Is for A-l-i-v-e.”
Long story short: PLL is both a ratings and a social media hit. And it just keeps getting better.Source: ABC Family
