As with any controversy, there are two sides. After Duck Dynasty star Phil Robertson aired some pretty contentious statements in a GQ interview, he has fired up critics and supporters alike. And while A&E has put the reality star on indefinite suspension from the hit show, some conservative organizations are creating petitions asking for signatures to help convince the network to reinstate Phil on the show.
One such petition, created by Faith Driven Consumer, a faith-based organization, directly addresses A&E and asks for 250,000 signatures in support of Phil. As of 2:45 p.m. ET on December 27, the petition has amassed 256,718 supporters. Wowza!
“Mr. Robertson’s comments in GQ Magazine are simply reflective of a Biblical view of sexuality, marriage, and family – a view that has stood the test of time for thousands of years and continues to be held by the majority of Americans and today’s world as a whole,” the #IStandWithPhil petition reads. Check out their whole list of requests here.
While there are many siding with Phil on this issue, there are just as many in opposition. Charlie Sheen has spoken out against the reality star’s anti-gay statements and just when we thought Phil had found a friend in Sarah Palin, she revealed that she had spoken out in support before actually reading the interview for herself.
There are obviously two camps in this controversy, which do you side with? Hit the comments and let us know your opinion!
