And so the love fest between NBC and Amy Poehler continues!
Hot off the heels of news that Amy’s sitcom, Parks and Recreation is very likely to get the go ahead for a seventh season, the peacock confirmed that they have ordered a comedy pilot from the comedian and Saturday Night Live alum that is slated to star Orange Is the New Black’s Natasha Lyonne.
Per The Hollywood Reporter, NBC now has a three-year overall deal with Amy, hence their decision to greenlight the pilot with Natasha. The project is untitled as of yet, but going by the name Old Soul. The recent Golden Globe-winner co-created the pilot and is expected to executive produce alongside Dave Becky and Happy Endings duo Jonathan Fener and Josh Bycel. Josh will write the script.
As for Natasha, she will play a woman “trying to find herself and, in the meantime, working as the aide to a group of elderly people.” If the pilot gets picked up and NBC orders it to series, it’s unknown how it might affect Natasha’s future on Netflix’s OITNB, but we’re crossing our fingers that she can juggle both shooting schedules if need be.
Lately, it seems like anything Amy touches turns to gold. Not only did she win a Golden Globe of her own on January 12 for her work as Leslie Knope on Parks and Rec, but the ceremony she hosted with pal and fellow funny lady Tina Fey was the highest-rated Globes broadcast in 10 years.
