We’re still riding a musical high since Mariah Carey released her new single “You’re Mine (Eternal)” last week, and the good news just keeps on coming. If there’s anything we love more than Mimi’s music — blasphemy! — it’s her adorable 2-year-old twins, Monroe and Moroccan. And according to Mariah, the toddlers will be making an appearance on her forthcoming album, which drops this May!
“It’s a song that I wrote with Bryan-Michael Cox and Jermaine Dupri,” Mariah tells People, explaining how it all came about. “There’s a part that Jermaine says on the song that [the kids] loved, and Monroe started to say it. I kept having to get my iPhone and record her. So I have all these different takes of her saying things, singing things. Then I’d be like, ‘This is your new ad lib — learn it!’ I have to make it fun for her.”
So cute! Between Mariah’s killer pipes and their pops Nick Cannon’s rap background, it’s no surprise that Ro and Roc would have musical instincts. And when the pub asked the songstress if she saw a career in the industry for the kids, she was seemingly supportive.
“Well, they started singing and talking simultaneously,” Mariah begins, adding, “It’s hard to explain. That sounds like a lie, but it’s true. They’re both so musical.”
But it isn’t all music, all the time for the glamorous mama and her twins. Mimi says she’s just as happy spending down time together — as long as they still get their educational tasks done.
“Their favorite thing is: ‘Lie down, Mommy.’ Meaning: ‘Lay with me and watch a movie,’” she details. “Because otherwise they have to watch Your Baby Can Read or something educational. I’m a tough task-master like that.”
