Looks like we’ve got another Netflix marathon to train for. According to The Hollywood Reporter’s latest casting announcement, Freaks and Geeks and Mad Men star Linda Cardellini is teaming up with Kyle Chandler, aka Coach Taylor from Friday Night Lights, on a new Netflix drama.
Led by the creators of the FX hit drama Damages, the upcoming new streaming series is a family drama that sounds to us a lot like a dark version of Parenthood. Focusing on the lives of four adult siblings, Linda will portray the youngest sister, a people-pleasing attorney, while Kyle plays a middle child described as “the kind of responsible guy who would work in law enforcement.”
The cast also includes Aussie actor Ben Mendelsohn (The Place Beyond the Pines) as the eldest, prodigal son and foil to Kyle’s rule-abiding character. With the return of this black sheep to the flock, the family’s “secrets and scars” begin to resurface.
With such a strong cast and a creative team that’s already produced one riveting drama, we predict this is going to be another one of those times we’re going to want to block out a weekend and subsist on takeout until we’ve binge-watched the entire season. Damn you, Netflix!
