Diamonds are forever, even if engagements are not.
“When Liam bought that ring, he truly believed he would be spending the rest of his life with her. Now he realizes they are both just too young to be ready for such a big commitment," the source said.
So now she can hold onto the ring as a reminder of their young love. Or she could just pawn it, since the 3.5-carat diamond ring set in an 18-karat gold band is valued at around $100,000.
Last year, ring designer Neil Lane talked to People about what Liam had said he wanted for Miley. The Hunger Games actor was aiming for “something unusual,” but also “really beautiful and romantic.”
Neil said of the ring, “It was hand-cut around 1880 or 1890, and it’s unique and in its original form. At that time no two diamonds were alike, as they were all hand-cut, so it’s fascinating to look at.”
And she can keep looking at it for as long as she wants. What would you do with the ring, if you were Miley?
