This season of Teen Mom 2 has been an emotional rollercoaster for Leah Messer and her ex-husband, Corey Simms. These former lovebirds were dealt a huge blow when their daughter, Aliannah, was diagnosed with muscular dystrophy, and they've chosen to deal with her condition in very different ways.
While Leah has stayed strong and pragmatic about the fact that Ali will have to use a wheelchair, Corey's hopeful to the point of being somewhat in denial. Not only does he think Ali will be able to walk down the aisle at her wedding, he doesn't want her to use a wheelchair at all — despite the doctor recommending it!
Leah took it to Twitter during this week's episode of Teen Mom 2 to talk about staying strong for Ali, saying that a combination of hope and pragmatism is key.
"If your [sic] a mom to a child with disabilities. You know where I come from when you have to think realistically and stay hopefully all at the same time!" she tweeted, adding, "I stand by Ali girl through thick and thin! Everyone knows that but I also have to prepare for what the future holds if anything would happen."
Sounds like Leah has the right attitude when it comes to Ali's health. She's just as hopeful as Corey is that their little girl will beat the odds and continue walking, but she's also realistic about Ali's future. We can understand why Leah is frustrated with Corey for being overly hopeful, but a southern gent's gotta do what a southern gent's gotta do!
