When we last saw Lauren Manzo onscreen – during Season 5 of the Real Housewives of New Jersey – she had cold feet when it came to the notion of marrying longtime beau Vito Scalia. Cut to just a few months later, however, and Lauren and Vito are excitedly engaged and planning their 2015 wedding.
So what changed and convinced Lauren to say ‘Yes!’ when Vito popped the question? To find out we went straight to the bride-to-be herself. In an exclusive interview with Wetpaint Entertainment, Lauren shares why she’s finally ready to walk down the aisle!
“The thing with me is, I hate change,” Lauren explains. “I’ve always been afraid of growing up in a lot of ways. Even with my store, Cafface, it was scary watching it get built and come together. It was like, ‘Wow, this is really happening.’”
“But with the engagement, I think I just needed to be thrown into it,” she continues. “I told Vito a few months ago that I thought I was ready. I told him, ‘Let’s do it and have a long engagement.’ And now that I’m in it, I’m great, I’m ready.”
How does she know for sure? Lauren says her new attitude about shopping has been the most obvious sign. “I was on the verge of buying myself a pair of Tom Ford high heeled-boots the other day,” she relates. “But then I realized, I’m engaged - $2,000 boots are not an option right now. I need to be more responsible. I’m engaged and going to be married and I’d rather save for a house, instead!”
