The former home of the late Huell Howser, the LA TV icon and host of KCET’s California’s Gold, is up for sale and it’s an architectural gem.
The 67-year-old died of prostate cancer on January 7.
Huell called this his “dream home” — it’s in Twentynine Palms, California, which is about two and a half hours away from Los Angeles.
While traveling for his popular show, Huell passed through the desert and loved it instantly. When the house — which sits on nearly 12 acres — went up for sale in 1997, he bought it instantly and started remodeling it.
The 1950s house has two-bedrooms and two-and-a-half-bathrooms and is a blend of modern and mid-century chic.
It has concrete kitchen countertops, stainless steel baseboards and an inverted mid-century streetlight fixture that serves as the master bath.
The garage was converted into an entertainment room with movable glass walls, and the pool offers spectacular views.
It sells for $395,000.
