Kirstie Alley is fighting back against allegations by former friend and ex-Church of Scientology member Leah Remini that she’d been shunned by Church members.
“I think that the most repulsive thing that a person can do is attack another person’s faith” the 62-year-old actress told Howard Stern on Wednesday.
Alley was responding to claims made by Remini several weeks ago on ABC’s The View that one of the hardest things about leaving the Church was the practice of “shunning” and how all of her friends in the Church had cut off and her family.
“First of all I just want everyone to know that I have hundreds of friends who have come into Scientology and left Scientology. You’re not shunned, you’re not chased. All that stuff’s bullish*t.”
The Kirstie actress also claims she and the former King of Queens star hadn’t been close in some time, telling Stern ‘he truth is I don’t think I’ve seen Leah for like seven or eight years, not for any reason other than I’m acting and she’s acting…I didn’t care if she was in or out, I honestly didn’t.”
“However, when you are generalizing and when your goal is to malign and to say things about an entire group…when you decide to blanket statement that Scientology is evil, you are my enemy.”
