Katy Perry’s third studio album release, Prism, is set to drop October 22, and we have a feeling it’ll be a big one — her first single from the album, “Roar,” is all we hear when we turn on our radios. And on Thursday, Katy headed to Late Night with Jimmy Fallon to talk details.
The always adorable Katy came onstage to The Roots’ rendition of boyfriend John Mayer’s hit, “Your Body is a Wonderland,” clad in a flirty skirt and pigtails that reminded us of her alter-ego, Kathy Beth Terry.
Set to perform as the musical guest on Saturday Night Live this weekend, Jimmy asked her if she’s planning to make an appearance in any of the sketches. “I’m not planned to jump in,” Katy said, “but maybe I’ll just go, ‘hey, I’m here! This is funny, right?’”
“I wish I could do some comedy sketches, because I love being around comedians,” she added. “All of my heroes are girls that have either been on SNL or have been a part of SNL, like Amy Poehler, Tina Fey, Kristin Wiig, Amy Sedaris.”
And about Prism?
“I’m very excited for it,” she said. “I’m very excited for all you guys to hear it.”
So what can we expect? Something more mature than her last album release, Teenage Dream. “[Teenage Dream] was super high concept and almost cartoony,” she said. “I think the difference between this one and this next one is that it’s more vulnerable and raw and stripped down … It’s an evolution. It’s three years later and a bit more grown up, but still having lots of fun.”
We can’t wait!
