Aaron Whitmore may have been left as roadkill in last night’s episode of The Vampire Diaries, but don’t think his legal guardian Dr. Wes Maxfield (Rick Cosnett) will be gotten rid of so easily — and thank god for that! Check out the pic Rick just snapped on the TVD set.
“Dr. Wes is on a #MysticFallsMission #tvds5 #NotGoingAnywhere #TeamWes #LovetoHate,” Rick captioned the photo of himself with a Paramount Studios tower looming in the background. Huzzah! We were kinda worried we’d be losing the good (or, you know, bad) doctor as Rick has been cast in the CW’s Arrow spin-off. Luckily, it seems like he will be sticking around at least a little while longer. We don’t know what nefarious vampire-experimenting shenanigans you’re up to, Dr. Wes, but we’re totally on board.
Though Aaron mentioned that he cut off the funding to the Whitmore Society’s research in last night’s episode, we doubt such a thing as finances will keep this professor down. In fact, we think he may have already found alternate funding. After all, the Travelers have all that doppelganger blood and presumably no one to turn it into some sort of vampire-destroying doomsday device. The villainous alliance practically writes itself!
In the meantime, we’re guessing Dr. Wes is going to have a strong reaction to Aaron’s untimely death. Will he be the next target on Damon and Enzo’s murder spree? It seems likely, but we wouldn’t count this microbiologist out just yet. He’s always got a few tricks up his sleeve — like multiple vervain bracelets.
Are you glad to hear Dr. Wes isn’t going anywhere? Do you think he will eventually team up with the Travelers? Sound off in the comments below!
Catch the next episode of The Vampire Diaries on Thursday, February 6 at 8 p.m. ET on the CW.
