With five wins as a pro on Dancing With The Stars, we know Derek Hough has the golden touch when it comes to his amazing routines.
And now he’s helped work his choreographic magic with the American Ice Dancing Team of Charlie White and Meryl Davis, who just won the first U.S. gold medal in that event’s history.
White and Davis have been skating together for the past 17 years. But for this Olympics, they brought in the secret weapon of Derek’s choreography after meeting via a mutual friend.
The 28-year-old helped choreograph the couple’s Sunday’s short program routine, which landed them in first place going into Monday’s finals.
Derek told Good Morning America “they came to me and said listen, we want to go all the way. I felt really confident with them as a team, as a partnership” adding “I live to do things outside my comfort zone.”
Indeed, White posted a photo to his Instagram eight months ago of Hough on skates helping the pair. So this has been in the works for some time.
And Derek couldn’t be more proud of his friends, tweeting ”USA USA USA !!! History in the making . First time USA has won this event in Olympic history. So proud ” after their win Monday.
