Still reeling from the news that House of Cards scored four Golden Globe nominations, we now have even more reason to be excited about the political thriller.
Just hours after the series received its many nominations, Netflix released the trailer for the show’s second season — and things look just as grisly for the cast of characters this time around.
The first season of the D.C.-based thriller showed us the lives of congressman Francis Underwood (Kevin Spacey), his conniving wife Claire (Robin Wright), and morally questionable writer Zoe Barnes (Kate Mara). The 13 episodes of the first season followed the characters as they rose to power by whatever means necessary, be it murder, revenge, or blackmail.
The show has received nearly universal critical acclaim for its first set of episodes. The series scored Golden Globe nominations for Best Drama Series, Best Actor in a Drama Series (Kevin Spacey), Best Actress in a Drama Series (Robin Wright), and Best Supporting Actor in a Series, Mini-Series or TV Movie (Corey Stoll).
In the trailer for Season 2, which will be released February 14, we see a flurry of heart-pounding scenes as Francis calmly (and creepily) narrates.
“For those of us climbing to the top, there can be no mercy” he says. “And the butchery begins.”
