If you’ve read the 1979 V.C. Andrews book, Flowers in The Attic (or seen the movie), you know that as Corinne, Heather Graham doesn’t get to be the cool mom in the Lifetime remake. In fact, she gets to be the terrifying, someone should call the police mom — and the actors who played her children got more of a creepy vibe from her than she originally intended.
When Heather stopped by Chelsea Lately on Thursday, she dished on how the kids responded to her on set — and what inspired her to take on the iconic role.
“One of my best friends, she knows all the lines from the movie,” Heather said. “She was quoting me my lines … She was inspiring me. She was like, ‘You have to do this, I’m obsessed with this book.’”
So once she got into gear, she quickly convinced the kids that she was just as scary as the mother in the movie… not on purpose, though.
“They liked me a lot at first,” Heather said. “And then about halfway through, they started to be, like, kind of mad at me.’ Then one little boy was like, ‘You poison us.’”
Not that we can blame them — no spoilers here, but Heather as Corrine does some pretty horrible things to them, even if it is just a movie.
“And I was like, ‘Sorry! Like, didn’t you read the script, you idiot?’” she joked.
Flowers in The Attic premieres January 18 at 8 p.m. ET on Lifetime.
