It’s no secret that we squeal at a ridiculous decibel whenever a Glee episode features young versions of its characters. So we should probably go ahead and pass out earplugs to everyone sitting around us, since another Glee mini-me is on its way.
The last time we got to see teensy versions of the Glee gang was in Season 4, Episode 20: “Lights Out,” with young Rachel, Santana, and Kurt throwing on their dancin’ shoes during “At the Ballet.” Now, another character is getting the memory-lane treatment.
TV Line is reporting that the show is currently on the hunt to find a child actor to play a young Sam (Chord Overstreet) in Season 5, Episode 6. “They need a lad with ‘blonde/light brown hair and large lips’ to play 8-year-old Sam,” the site reveals. Frankly, we wish them luck finding anyone with lips as amazing as Chord’s!
Granted, this isn’t the first time we’ll see Sam as a tyke, as he was one of many New Directions members to be replaced by a mini version during Schue’s hallucination in Season 2, Episode 7: “The Substitute.” But it appears that, this time around, the focus will just be on little Sam and not on a group of youngsters.
So why will we be flashing back to Sam’s youth? Well, we know that among other new characters appearing in the episode is a dean of an elite college. So maybe Sam’s flashback is related to his college search? Or could it involve his budding romance with nurse Penny, whom we met last week? We can’t wait to find out! Plus, we’re due for a good squeal.
