Next week’s January 26 episode marks the official halfway point for Downton AbbeySeason 4 but show creator Julian Fellowes is just getting started! In the latest installment, we’ll make some major headway on several key stories for a few of our Downton favorites.
Keep reading for a preview of what to expect in the January 26 episode as broken down by leading characters. If you want all the details from the episode, we just happened to watch it way back in October when it premiered in the United Kingdom, which means spoilers galore. But you know, only if you’re interested.
Coming off of Lord Gillingham’s (Tom Cullen) rather sudden proposal of marriage, Lady Mary (Michelle Dockery) can’t help but wonder if she made the right choice in turning him down. (Viewers seem to be torn as well. Just check out the poll we have going about this very topic.) To complicate the situation even more, an old face returns to Downton with news that’ll mean major changes for Mary.
Edith (Laura Carmichael) spent last week’s episode cradled in the arms — or so we imagine — of Michael Gregson (Charles Edwards) before her beau headed overseas to Germany. However, that one night of passion may have bigger consequences than a lack of sleep.
This week is a big one when it comes to Isobel Crawley’s (Penelope Wilton) journey to reclaim her life after suffering the loss of her only child. Unfortunately, however, her latest project leads to her and theDowager (Maggie Smith) crossing swords.
After Mr. Green (Nigel Harman) raped Anna (Joanne Froggatt) during the January 12 episode, she decided to keep the attack secret from her husband so he wouldn’t retaliate and end up in jail or, worse, dead. This week, however, all kinds of secrets are coming to light — with mixed results for everyone involved.
New Character Alert!
With Edna Braithwaite (Myanna Turning) officially out of the picture, Cora (Elizabeth McGovern) once again needs a lady’s maid. Enter Phyllis Baxter (Raquel Cassidy). She seems solid enough but Thomas (Rob James-Collier) has some kind of sway over her that can only mean trouble for the Abbey.
