Yep, you read that correctly. Joshua Jackson has been cast in a new Showtime drama in which he’ll play a cowboy. The teenager (aka the Dawson’s Creek aficionado) in us is hyperventilating from excitement.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Fringe star has been cast alongside Dominic West (The Wire), Maura Tierney (ER), and Ruth Wilson (Luther) in the pilot for The Affair.
The drama — coming from In Treatment’s Sarah Treem and Hagai Levi — will “explore two marriages, the affair that disrupts them, and the fallout that ensues.”
Josh will be taking on the role of Cole, a “hard-edged cowboy” who runs his family’s ranch in Long Island, NY. Cole is married to Allison (Ruth Wilson), a pancake house waitress who’s struggling to piece her life back together following a tragedy.
When Allison begins an affair with Dominic West’s Noah, her complicated marriage becomes even more difficult to handle. Not surprisingly, the relationship has a serious impact on Noah’s wife, Helen (Maura Tierney), to whom he’s been married for 17 years.
We’ve got to admit, we’ll watch just about anything starring Pacey Witter Joshua Jackson, but this sounds like a show we’d tune in for regardless of the cast.
Are you excited to see this Dawson’s Creek hottie portray a tough cowboy, or will James Van Der Beek’s Friends With Better Lives be more your speed?
