Just two months before Cory Monteith’s (Finn) tragic passing in July 2013, the Glee star finished recording six songs for his band Bonnie Dune’s first album. Now, Bonnie Dune has released the songs, and E! Online has a first listen to one of the tracks.
The song, “Maybe Tonight,” doesn’t feature Cory on vocals. He’s the band’s drummer, and his beats can be heard throughout the song as bandmate Justin Wilczynski sings lead. Listen to the song on E! Online.
“Maybe Tonight” is one of six songs on Bonnie Dune’s debut EP, Miramar, which will be released tomorrow: Tuesday, February 4, 2014. Justin tells E! that he and the guys finished recording it in May 2013, and that afterwards, Cory went to a dark place. At that point, the actor had completed his stint in rehab (March-April 2013), and would stay relatively off the radar until his death in July.
"We finished these particular six songs quite a while ago," Justin tells the site. "Some things happened where Cory needed to take a break and we realized that he was struggling and that he was having a hard time, so we took a bit of a hiatus from the writing and recording process."
