“Queen” Brooklyn Tankard has been arrested... for letting her kid skip school. The Bravo star, who appears in the reality series Thicker Than Water: The Tankards, was pulled over in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. A routine license check reportedly turned up several outstanding warrants, including one for “Failure to Cause Child to Attend School”.
According to court docs obtained by TMZ, Brooklyn’s 10-year-old daughter Diamond has accrued 16 unexcused absences and an additional 35 unexcused tardies. Clueless fans will scoff at that number — Travis Birkenstock had you beat by three. Amateurs!
In all seriousness, it sounds like Tennessee takes truancy very seriously. In Rutherford County, where Brooklyn resides, failure to report more than five absences is a Class C misdemeanor. The penalty for the offense is “not greater than thirty (30 days or a fine not to exceed fifty dollars ($50.00), or both, unless otherwise provided by statute,” according to the Tennessee statute.
The 25-year-old Brooklyn, whose show focuses on the family life of her famous father, basketball star turned gospel musician Ben Tankard, was arrested, booked, and released on bond Sunday, February 18. Let this be a lesson to all. Stay in school — and make sure your kids do, too!
