It’s only been a few weeks since Rachel Frederickson emerged as this season’s winner on NBC’s Biggest Loser, after dropping a record-breaking 155 pounds. But instead of being able to enjoy the positive press that usually comes with nabbing the coveted top spot, the 24-year-old was thrust into controversy as viewers and media alike wondered, “Did she go too far?”
While Rachel has remained mostly out of the spotlight since the days following the February 4 finale, the L.A.-based voiceover artist made an appearance on TODAY this morning to finally respond to the public outcry in person. And we must say, she was looking fantastic!
Sitting down with Savannah Guthrie, Rachel looked healthy and well-rested — which should certainly help to quell continuing concern for the young lady. And for those who need to hear it right from her mouth, she shared some words, as well.
"I appreciate all the concern and I can see where it comes from, and there is movie magic," Rachel said, adding, "It's almost seven months, almost a year of my life, losing the weight."
She insists that she’s followed an "absolutely healthy" weight loss plan, which includes regular Pilates sessions, and that she’s currently “the happiest, most alive I've ever felt."
And while the Biggest Loser title-holder did drop from 260 to a mere 105 pounds, she doesn’t plan to go any further. "I'm in maintenance mode, which is just as hard as losing the weight, I think," Rachel explained. "It's a big balance."
For his part, Rachel’s on-show trainer Dolvett Quince recently said that he’s keeping a close eye on his contestant to make sure she continues to focus on getting (and staying) well.
"We're going to get her healthy," Dolvett promised. "She's going to be alright ... She's getting healthier every day."
