To quote the great Derek Hough himself: “Holy crap!”
The Dancing With the Stars pro won his first Emmy on September 22 at the 2013 Emmy Awards in L.A. He had been nominated for two awards — includingfour of his DWTS dances — and he not only received the statue, he got to make a speech on stage. It was the first time the Emmys included the choreographers into the primetime program like that, and we hope they continue every year.
A month later, the Emmys are still showing their love to Derek. As Derek tweeted on October 17, “Thank you for including me in the Emmy Magazine. Such an honor.” You can check out his handsome portrait here. Such a stud!
Derek is no stranger to big wins. He currently has four Mirror Ball trophies and he's still the only pro to win DWTS more than twice; he may be on his way to a fifth win next month, alongside Glee'sAmber Riley. After the Emmys, E! News wanted him to compare the Mirror Ball trophies to his new Emmy. "It's like apples and oranges,” he answered, “but this is pretty, this is very, very special."
Congrats to Derek on the Emmy Magazine spread! Do you think he’ll be nominated again next year for any of the routines so far on Season 17? If so, which ones? Tell us below!
