Amanda Bynes has one more thing to like about 2014. Having recently completed rehab, the What I Like About You star has managed to avoid jail time from her 2012 DUI arrest.
Amanda — who completed inpatient treatment at a Malibu treatment center in December 2013 — pleaded no contest on February 24 in her DUI case, according to People. The plea was to an alcohol-related offense that is less severe than a DUI, which means she won't do any jail time.
Through the plea deal, the 27-year-old Amanda will get three years probation, various fines, and must attend a three-month alcohol education course. The case dates back to an incident in April 2012 when Amanda was charged with DUI after side-swiping a police car in L.A.
Amanda is currently enrolled in fashion school at FIDM in NYC and is "doing great" since leaving the treatment center, according to her attorney. Meanwhile, it appears that she won't face any penalty from her 2013 bong-throwing incident, so things are really looking up for the formerly troubled She's the Man and Hairspray star.
We wish Amanda all the best as she gets her life back on track.
Are you surprised that Amanda has avoided jail time for her DUI? And do you think she'll continue to stay out of trouble?
